Hi guys, I desire to know which pronoun, whom or who , fits best in the following sentences, from a grammatical standpoint. I got these ii examples from a book almost body language and even though both use whom, I have doubts about whether they are correct. a) One of life'south nearly perplexing situations is confronting someone whom nosotros had idea was agreeable who is at present belligerent. b) An executive whom we know rocks his chair either forward and backward or from side to side while talking on the telephone. My attempts: Co-ordinate to grammar : Whom is the object of a verb or preposition. I remember I read somewhere these rules : Use who when y'all tin replace it with a pronoun ( He, she, they ...) Taking the in a higher place into business relationship : a) One of life's nigh perplexing situations is confronting someone who we had thought was amusing who is now belligerent. We had thought HE/SHE was agreeable so it follows that we need to use WHO. b) An executive who nosotros know rocks his chair either forward and astern or from side to side while talking on the phone. We don't know him .....We know HE rocks his chair ....then again information technology follows that we have to use WHO. Thanks
Use whom when you tin supervene upon it with an object pronoun (him , her, them..)

                  Are these rules applicative?
Use who when you can supervene upon it with a pronoun ( He, she, they ...)
Employ whom when yous can replace it with an object pronoun (him , her, them..)

Correct, it's "who," the subject of the corresponding verb:
Nosotros had thought someone was agreeable ~ nosotros had thought he was amusing ~ we had thought who was agreeable.
We know an executive rocks his chair ~ nosotros know he rocks his chair ~ we know who rocks his chair.
And, yep, your rules work: "who" tin can exist replaced by a subject pronoun, and "whom" by an object pronoun.
                  Cheers
